About the project
Why the public association INODA “InvaLife” launched Media.InvaLife and what we aim to achieve.
Why we launched Media.InvaLife
People with disabilities and their families face the same problem every day: important information about rights, benefits, laws and services is hard to find, scattered across different websites and written in complicated language. For many years the public association INODA “InvaLife” has helped people sort these questions out one by one. Media.InvaLife is the next step: an open media outlet where this information is collected, checked and explained in a way everyone can understand.
Our goals
- To give people with disabilities and their families reliable information about rights, benefits, laws and services in Transnistria and the wider region.
- To explain new laws and government decisions: what has changed, who is affected and what to do.
- To tell the stories of people with disabilities - their experience, work, studies, sport and creativity - without pity or stereotypes.
- To draw the attention of society and the authorities to barriers - inaccessible buildings, transport, services and information - and to how they can be removed.
- To publish in four languages - Russian, Romanian, Ukrainian and English - so that the information reaches everyone in the region and beyond.
- To make our own content accessible: plain language, image descriptions and a website that works well with screen readers and from the keyboard.
How we work
Every piece is checked by an editor before publication. We name our sources, separate facts from opinion and correct our mistakes. Read more about our principles on the “About the newsroom” and “Newsroom charter” pages.
Get involved
If you would like to share your story, report a problem or suggest a topic, write to the newsroom - our contacts are at the bottom of every page.
