How we use AI
Artificial intelligence helps the newsroom but does not replace it: a person always makes the decision to publish.
The main rule
Nothing is published automatically. Every text is read, checked and approved by an editor before publication. The newsroom, not a program, is responsible for what we publish.
Where we use AI
- Finding and selecting news: software scans official websites and other sources and suggests topics to the newsroom.
- Drafts: AI may prepare a draft of a news item based on an official document or statement. An editor checks it against the source and rewrites it where needed.
- Translations: draft translations into Romanian, Ukrainian and English, which are then reviewed by a person.
- Supporting tasks: headlines and descriptions for search engines, image descriptions for blind readers, spell-checking, choosing sections.
- Illustrations: we use AI-generated images only as illustrations and never present them as photographs of real events or people.
What AI does not do
- It does not decide to publish, withdraw or correct anything.
- It does not replace fact-checking: an editor verifies facts, figures and quotes against primary sources.
- It does not invent quotes, people or events.
If you spot a mistake
AI, like people, can make mistakes. If you notice an inaccuracy, tell us - we will check and correct the story. The “Corrections and refutations” page explains how.
