Neurologist Hadjiu: Early diagnosis helps identify disorders in children in Moldova
A neurologist from the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy advises parents to spot concerning changes in their children early and limit gadget use

Head of the Pediatric Neurology Clinic at the Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Svetlana Hadjiu, warns that adults must closely monitor a child's behavior and development and not delay visiting a doctor if any deviations are observed.
According to her, seeking help early is important because pediatric neurological disorders are being increasingly identified in Moldova.
Svetlana Hadjiu attributes the rise in such diagnoses to improved examination methods and expanded medical screening programs. As a result, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), speech and language development disorders, and autism spectrum disorders are detected faster than in the past.
The expert notes that pediatricians and family doctors play a key role in spotting the first signs of disorders in time and referring children to a pediatric neurologist. Early intervention centers operate in Moldova, and specialized professionals regularly undergo training and retraining.
The expert specifically emphasizes the importance of daily routines: parents should pay closer attention to the quality of their child's sleep, diet, and physical activity. Additionally, she recommends limiting children's access to digital devices; according to her, it is best to avoid gadgets entirely until the age of five.
Parental attention to developmental changes, timely responses by pediatricians and family doctors, and the work of early intervention centers help detect neurological disorders earlier and prevent delays in consulting specialized experts.
