In the latest session of the government’s EcoVoucher program, 5,448 households received financial support and replaced old refrigerators or washing machines with new ones.

This stage covered the period from October 13 to November 1. Each voucher was worth 7,000 lei and covered up to 70% of the equipment cost. A total of 8,120 vouchers were distributed during this period, while 2,672 unused vouchers will be carried over to the next session.

As a result of this stage, 2,367 refrigerators were purchased, including models with built-in freezers in energy efficiency classes A, B, C, and D, along with 3,081 Class A washing machines. For each new appliance acquired, recipients surrendered their old equivalent device for disposal.

Data from the National Center for Sustainable Energy (CNED) shows that among the beneficiaries were 3,921 households with minor children, 969 households of pensioners, and 558 households where a person with severe disability resides.

The appliances purchased by these families are expected to reduce annual consumption by approximately 1.16 million kWh, equivalent to about 4.3 million lei.

CNED Director Ion Muntean noted in a press release that EcoVoucher is another mechanism through which the government supports vulnerable families to sustainably lower electricity bills. According to him, replacing old household appliances with energy-efficient equipment reduces consumption and provides long-term savings.

Since the program launched in 2024, 48,813 families have received assistance through EcoVoucher, purchasing 23,004 refrigerators and 25,773 washing machines. The acquired equipment ensures annual savings of approximately 10.3 million kWh of electricity, or about 38 million lei.

The program was developed by the Government of the Republic of Moldova with financial support from the European Union and is implemented by CNED in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy. Its current version is funded from the state budget of the Republic of Moldova.
