Government Lifts Budget Restrictions on Health and Social Spending

The Transnistrian Cabinet revised spending rules, unlocking key social and health-care expenditure lines.

The Government’s press service said the decision, initiated by the prime minister, will allow additional resources to be allocated to rehabilitation for people with disabilities, disease diagnosis and the equipping of specialized institutions, because human needs are now prioritized over formal financial discipline.

Priority Areas in Health Care

A substantial volume of funds will be redirected to the needs of citizens with disabilities. This includes the purchase of prostheses, orthopedic devices and technical means of rehabilitation. Medical organizations will also update their equipment and specialized transport. Separate attention will be given to the prevention of socially significant diseases: restrictions on programs to combat HIV and tuberculosis have been lifted. MRI diagnostics for the population and dental treatment for minors will also be provided.

Infrastructure and Environmental Initiatives

The head of the cabinet noted that strict financial-planning constraints should not block the resolution of pressing public problems. In this regard, municipalities will again be able to spend funds on New Year gifts for children, while boarding institutions, kindergartens, special schools, veterans' homes and rehabilitation centers will receive the necessary educational materials, equipment and funds for upkeep. In parallel, the financial capacity of territorial environmental funds will be expanded. The Yagorlyk Nature Reserve will be provided with resources for scientific research and strengthening its material and technical base.
