Pharmaceutical companies Moderna and MSD have released the results of a large-scale clinical trial for combination melanoma therapy.

The personalized mRNA drug intismeran, administered alongside the immunotherapy drug Keytruda, has provided a significant increase in survival. The innovative method, which uses artificial intelligence to analyze mutations, has nearly halved the probability of disease recurrence or death in patients at high oncological risk.

Trial Figures and Facts

The trial involved over 1,100 participants who had previously undergone surgical removal of an aggressive tumor. Twenty-four months after the start of treatment, 70% of patients in the group receiving Keytruda alone remained recurrence-free.

The combination of Keytruda and intismeran increased this figure to 82%. The overall risk of death or disease recurrence decreased by 42%, and the probability of metastasis or death decreased by 38% compared to the control group.

Drug Development Technology

The uniqueness of this approach lies in its highly personalized nature. During surgery, a sample of the tumor is taken from the patient and subsequently undergoes genetic sequencing.

Artificial intelligence algorithms analyze the resulting data and identify up to 34 specific neoantigens. These molecules, unique to the specific cancer cells, become the target of the vaccine, prompting the immune system to attack the tumor. The entire development process takes several weeks.

Financial Implications of the Breakthrough

The investment community reacted instantly to the successful completion of the key trial phase. Moderna's shares jumped nearly 90% in premarket trading, reflecting market optimism regarding the prospects of personalized oncology.

These breakthroughs confirm that the future of cancer treatment lies in precision medicine. Tailoring therapy to the unique genetic profile of the disease not only improves survival chances but also lays the groundwork for fighting other complex oncological conditions.

Who is affected

Люди с инвалидностью часто сталкиваются с финансовыми и административными барьерами, поэтому важно, чтобы инновационные методы лечения были доступны и для них, а не только для обеспеченных слоев населения.
